What is AnonymFiles?

AnonymFiles is a desktop application for Mac and Windows that anonymizes a case file on the computer, before you share it or hand it to an AI. You drop in a whole folder: the app finds names, organizations, addresses, emails, phone numbers, IBANs, private dates and ID numbers, and replaces them with stable placeholders such as [PERSONNE_1] or [ORGANISATION_1]. The same person keeps the same placeholder across every document.

You then review each document, original and copy side by side, mask in one click anything detection missed, approve, and export a clean copy. After working with the AI, you paste its answer into the app, which puts the real names back in place, as text, Word or PDF. The originals are never modified.

Who is it for?

AnonymFiles is built for professions bound by secrecy that want to use AI without exposing their clients, in firms of one to twenty seats, and beyond on quote:

• anonymization software for lawyers: pleadings, judgments, exhibits;
• anonymization software for notaries: draft deeds, sale agreements;
• anonymization software for chartered accountants: client files, spreadsheets;
• commissaires de justice, insolvency practitioners, patent attorneys, in-house counsel and DPOs.

How much does AnonymFiles cost?

There is no page quota, no credits and no per-document price: local software costs the vendor nothing per page processed. Updates are included as long as the subscription runs. How it works, in four steps

1. Drop the whole case file, subfolders included. Detection runs on the computer, with two local models and rules.
2. Review each document, original and copy side by side, and approve. Nothing is exported without approval.
3. Export a copy for the AI: a redacted PDF with the same layout, a Word file redacted in place, text copies for emails and spreadsheets. Masked content is deleted, metadata removed, file names made neutral.
4. Put back the real names into the AI's answer, as text, Word or PDF.

What AnonymFiles does, and does not do

On a fictitious set of 40 firm documents (written submissions, judgments, deeds, engagement letters, payroll exports, minutes, contracts, emails…), the October 14, 2026 benchmark masked 364 of the 366 expected items, that is 99%; from 97% to 100% depending on the format (Word, PDF, scans, emails, spreadsheets) and 98% in light detection. The remaining misses are organizations without a legal form and surnames on their own. The set is fictitious: it is an indicator, not an audit. Security: what leaves the computer

• No document is sent over the internet: detection, review, export and putting names back all happen on the computer.
• No account, no telemetry, no automatic update check.
• License checked on the computer: a signed key, with no network call.
• Models: included on Mac; on Windows, downloaded once on first use, with no document text.
• Encryption at rest: mapping table and working data encrypted with AES-256-GCM, key protected by the system keychain; the table is never in the export.

Reviews of AnonymFiles

AnonymFiles is not available yet. There are therefore no published customer reviews, and we display none: a rating or testimonial before launch would not be credible. The first feedback from firms will be published, with names, once it exists.

In the meantime, you can form your own view from verifiable facts:

AnonymFiles and AnonFiles: no link

The names look alike; the businesses have nothing in common. AnonFiles was an anonymous file-hosting service, shut down around August 16, 2023 by its operators, who said they were worn out by abuse of the service. AnonymFiles is document anonymization software: it runs on your computer, hosts no files and has no link, technical or commercial, with the former AnonFiles.
